After attending a couple wonderful but very serious productions from a couple of local theatre companies, I’m definitely up for something funny – especially knowing that it’s coming from Aithon Theatre, who brought us the delightful and hilarious “The Complete History of America – Abridged” at Rogue 2007. This weekend, Aithon Theatre will be performing Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize winning Broadway hit, Laughter on the 23rd Floor. As described on the Aithon Theatre website:
“Set in 1953 Neil Simon re-creates the mayhem, neuroses, nonstop gags and constant one-upmanship of a team of brilliantly funny social misfits as they write "The Max Prince show". Among the crew are Milt, the insult artist, Ira, the hypochondriac whose dream is to have a virus named after him; and Val, a Russian émigré who takes a Berlitz course so he can curse without an accent. They are devoted to their boss, Max, a comic genius, a tyrant, and a paranoiac with a heart of gold.”

Tickets are $16-$20 for adults, $14-$18 for students, seniors, and groups. There are just three performances (Saturday, June 16 at 7:30; Sunday, June 17 at 2:00; and Sunday, June 17 at 7:30pm), and performances will be held at the Memorial Auditorium in downtown Fresno (Fresno, N, O, and Merced Streets). Visit http://www.aithontheatre.com/ for more information.

Check back here on the Undercurrent website Sunday morning for our review of Aithon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and you’ll still have time to catch one of the two Sunday performances!
