May 1-March and Rally in Fresno
April 29-March in Mendota
* For a just and comprehensive immigration reform
* For a moratorium on the raids and deportations
On May 1, 2006, more than 20,000 people joined together in a peaceful gathering across from City Hall in Fresno to request legalization for the nearly 10 million undocumented immigrants who live and work in the United States.

This May 1 (2007), CCCIR has called for a rally in the area set aside for Free Expression in the city of Fresno (in Fulton Mall), from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and for a march calling for a moratorium to the raids and deportations carried out by the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) that has torn families apart and destroyed them financially, and to demand the passage of a comprehensive and humanitarian immigration law.

In 2006 we succeeded in preventing the passage of the Sensenbrenner Law (HR4437) and in changing the balance of power in Congress. Nevertheless, attacks against immigrants have continued, and Congress does not appear to be seriously interested in passing a fair and just
immigration law.

As border control is reinforced and raids have increased, and as the government continues to request a plan for temporary workers, thousands of workers are losing their jobs without the possibility of receiving benefits.

This May 1 we want once again to express that we have come here to build and not to destroy the same way other immigrant communities before us did. And we deserve respect, for ourselves and for our families.
